That varies based on the person and piercing. It can take up to a year to heal completely.

Can tongue piercings paralyze you or your tongue?
No. Some people have experienced some numbness.

How old do I need to be to get pierced?
18 and over.

If I'm under 18 can I bring my parent or legal guardian to give permission?
Yes, but you still need to be 18 for dermal anchors/piercings or genital & nipple piercings.
